Vintage Stamps for your Invitations

A pretty collection of vintage floral stamps, perfect for a bridal shower

What New Yorker wouldn't want to show their hometown pride

And for the design nerd, a collection of stamps commemorating

A big trend in postage for invitations is custom designed stamps, but a collection of vintage stamps can be much more interesting. There's something special about discovering that just-perfect touch out in the world that makes it somehow more personal.

I stumbled onto this vintage postage treasure last summer when I ordered a few cute gift tags from The Postage Service's Etsy shop. The tags were darling, but my favorite part of the order was the envelope my order arrived in, complete with color coordinated vintage stamps, including a Space Needle, since I am in Seattle.

I immediately recognized how special this would be for a wedding invitation, or to coordinate with a bold bar or bat mitzvah invitation. Quickly, I contacted Christine at The Postage Service to ask if she ever did such a thing upon request for special events, and she politely pointed me to her 1st Class Custom Postage Consultation service. This is a fantastic and special way to beautify a large envelope for a special occasion mailing. Add professionally hand lettered addressing by a calligrapher and you've got a keeper.
